Project Initiation Grants
MONT's Project Initiation User Grant program exists to provide financial assistance to external users, users who are new to the Montana Nanotechnology Facility (MONT), and academic and industrial users who aim to secure follow-on funding. A limited number of user grants are available with grant amounts not to exceed $5,000 in value (smaller awards may be made, commensurate with project need). The grants are awarded as credit within MONT and can be used for MONT equipment time, training, technical assistance and lab usage fees. User grants must be used within one year from the date of the award. These user grants are financed by the National Science Foundation (NSF), through the NNCI program.
- Grants are available only for reserach/development using MONT facilities on the Montana State University campus
-
Grants are not for equipment or supplies purchases
-
Grant requests should not be submitted for projects with existing funding for nanofabrication and nanocharacterization
-
Grant recipients are expected to provide a slide to MONT highlighting the completed research, within one year of the award date. Content from these slides will be included in annual reports to the NSF, and the slides may be linked to the MONT webpage.
Please complete the brief form below to see if your project may be eligible for a MONT user grant. Include a statement on how the MONT user grant will help with the intended project and/or with obtaining funding to expand the effort and future projects.
Before applying, applicants must confirm with appropriate lab manager(s) (ICAL, MMF, CBE, Mass Spec, TEM) that this research/development is within the scope of work MONT facilities can provide, along with the approximate time/costs in the facility.
